Well this year has been an exciting year on the banks of the FLE Fishery.
We have held three events offering FUN competition for all.
24 HOUR CARP FISHING CHAMPIONSHIP
The FLE Carp Championship ran alongside the 24 Hour Carp matches which we held once a month. Points were awarded for the 4 biggest fish of the match and over the course of the year we saw the name at the top of the leaderboard change on a few occasions. Darren Whyte took an early lead having caught some great fish in the early matches, but it was Arron Seymour who was steady and consistent throughout the series and ended up winning with a clear margin. Young Jordan Hookings tried to hang onto third spot but Tom Saint had a fish on the last match that knocked Jordan into 4th.
Arron has his name etched onto the trophy for all to see. We have gone the extra mile with these trophies and think you will agree that they are pretty impressive! Next year the competition will be bigger and better and we are already planning dates and format. With the changes that have planned to the canals this winter, I think the 2016 FLE Carp Championships will be an extremely popular event!

FLE MATCH FISHING CHAMPIONSHIP
The FLE Match Championship allowed anglers to gain points for their finishes in the FLE Open Match. Points were awarded for the top 4 positions and this made for a really interesting series. No money was at stake for the Championships and through allowing anglers to participate in the matches for just the peg fee and £1 Golden peg money ( So basically pools were optional this year ) we saw an increase in anglers fishing matches for the first time.
It was a great summer of fishing with many friendly faces seen and banter had. Ivan King started match fishing at the start of the year and had some great results. Young Kian O’Connor showed the adults how to do it on a number of occasions on his first year on the box. We also saw a few people fishing that had spent rather a few years on the box, and it was nice to see anglers who were, how shall we say, mature and worldly, coming and having a fish with everyone else. in the past when the entry has been £20 or £25 we have only seen the same old faces, it was great to see so many new match anglers this year!
In the end though there was only one winner, and what a win it was! Mark Cannings smashed the competition, and even took the golden peg money on the second to last match! He is a great angler and an even nicer guy and Mark has offered to help pass on his match fishing skills next year to newcomers.

FLE JUNIOR CHAMPIONSHIP
Finally we ran our FLE Junior Match Competition in conjunction with the Preston Junior League which we hosted at FLE. This event saw young match anglers from as far afield as Dorset, Sussex and Salisbury. The event only cost £1 to enter and consisted of a 4 match series. The best three results counted and going into the final match it really was nail biting stuff. Young kian O’Connor had to miss a match so he started the last match with one win and a 4th place and needed a win really. Ryan Keirnan had finished on the podium on all three previous matches but had 2 x 3rd places and a second. A win could have seen him raise the trophy. Young Freddie Bacon was a firm favourite having been at the top of the podium for two of the previous three matches but had a bad finish in round 2. So it really was all to play for. All of the anglers fished an excellent match and in the end Freddie showed his class and came through with his 3rd win of the series and achieved an amazing MAXIMUM 60 points for the series! Second was Ryan Kiernan with 52 points and third was local lad Kian O’Connor. Massive congratulations to Freddie on becoming the Preston Junior Southern League Champion 2015 and in the process also winning the FLE Junior Cup!
A spacial mention to all those carp anglers that came and gave it as go on the first match. thanks for having a try. Next year you need to get ready for some seriously good junior 24 hour carp matches at FLE! Details to follow! Also to Dylan Black, who fished a great match and always had a smile on his face….. top angling Dylan, i think you finished 4th overall!
Next year all three competitions will be bigger and better than ever and we hope that you will join us. Remember they really are a friendly affair so why not come and try your hand at competition fishing?
See you soon.
