Skretting Pellets Team Up With FLE

The Start of Success with FLE/Skretting Partnership

A recent partnership deal was struck between the lovely people at Skretting trout pellet and ourselves at For Life Experiences. For those that don’t know, For Life Experiences (FLE) is a not for profit social enterprise based in Hampshire that provide educational fishing courses, fishing lessons and experiences to people of all ages, backgrounds and abilities. – www.flefishing.net

FLE has been running for ten years now and over that time we have seen the business grow from strength to strength and with Skretting now on board to provide our clients with the finest quality trout pellets available things can only get better! We are now in our busiest season at FLE and I wanted to take the time to put pen to paper to inform everyone of the great work that is currently taking place.

We are currently working with a group of adults with varying learning disabilities, proving fishing lessons every Tuesday. The group have little or no fishing experience as well as some quiet complex needs and signed up to complete a six week fishing course where the hope is they will gain their Angling Trust CAST Award as well as benefit from some social activity.

The group started for the first two weeks using whip poles so they could get to grips with all of the basics and we instantly saw success with all clients thoroughly enjoying their fishing experience as well as landing a whole string of carp to over 8lb! We have since moved the group on to using a rod and reel and the last two sessions have been spent feeder fishing using Skretting’s 2mm coarse pellet scalded on method feeders coupled with short hair rigs and small visual boilies as hook baits. It took a little getting used to for the group as using a rod and reel was completely new to them but they have picked it up really well and have caught fish to double figures using the tactic.

We have two weeks left for the group and will be teaching them a new tactic again and introducing them to using bite alarms to target bigger carp. I’m sure the group will love this with the added element of the sound from the bite alarms and we will let you know how they get on!

We also have lots of other groups currently benefiting from our alternative education service but I will save that for another blog. Until next time be lucky people!
